The Archive holds a significant collection of oral interviews with individuals who worked in the maritime trades in Michigan. Subjects include commercial fishing, commercial shipping, boat building, the U.S. Coast Guard, the U.S. Light Saving Service, and others. An in depth collection of interviews related to commercial fishing and the U.S. Light Saving Service exists. The Library serves as one of two designated repositories for the oral history tape collection of the Great Lakes Lighthouse Keepers Association.
