Classic Boat and Small Craft Festival
Sailboats, motor craft, canoes, kayaks,
antique outboard motors,
dinghies, and ship models.
Fun for the whole family!
You are invited to bring your classic boat or small craft to our annual boat show. This event celebrates wood, fiberglass and steel boats; power, sail, and paddle boats; large and small boats; models; radio-controlled boats; toy boat building for kids and demonstrations. The show is sponsored by the Museum's Traditional Small Craft Association Chapter.
Exhibit space on our campus is only $20. Display a project-in-progress, an outboard motor collection, ship models, or other maritime-related exhibits. For boats in-the-water, there is limited space available at the Museum’s dock for $30 during the day of the show only or $50 a day including overnight. Additional space is available at the Municipal Marina. Your registration fee includes a continental breakfast for participants and free admission to the Museum for you and your “crew”. Each exhibitor will receive one boat show T-shirt. Additional T-shirts can be ordered for $15 with your registration form prior to the show.
Our show is one of the oldest and most popular of its kind in the region. We draw boats of all kinds and sizes, from large auxiliary sloops to dinghies and canoes. We particularly welcome demonstrations, photo journals, or histories associated with your entry. Traditional boat builders/commercial accounts are invited to hang their “shingle” for $50.
Our aim is to help perpetuate the building, restoration, and use of classic boats and small craft and to give participants and the public an entertaining and informative learning experience. We will have demonstrations of maritime skills during the show, and invite you to contact us if you or someone you know has a talent to share. And to make the event a success, we will need a number of volunteers to help in various ways. If you’d like to help, please call the museum at (269) 637-8078 or (800) 747-3810.
Please return the registration form no later than June 6, so that your entry can be included in our plans for exhibit placement. If you need information on overnight accommodations, you can contact the South Haven Visitors Bureau by phone at (269) 637-5252 or check their website at www.southhaven.org.
