*SOLD OUT*

Build your very own Paddleboard! The Michigan Maritime Museum is happy to offer a summer workshop where you can build your own Chesapeake Light Craft 14’ Kaholo Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP).  All sessions will be facilitated by our own professionally trained wooden boat builder.  This will be a one-time work shop limited to three reservations. Each participant will be allowed to bring one helper. Reservations are required for this 5 day build.
Advanced woodworking skills are not needed; but a basic knowledge of the use of woodworking tools is desired.
The workshop is a 5-day experience where you will walk out with a fully constructed CLC 14’ Kaholo Stand-Up Paddleboard that is ready for varnishing and/or painting to suit your style.  There is a sixth day option for those who want assistance in starting the cosmetic finish work.
The Kaholo SUP was specifically chosen because of its rare quality of being fast enough to race but stable enough for first-timers.  It possesses great tracking and a fine bow that lifts the Kaholo up and over waves.  The tail shape and twin fins facilitate surfing on long swells once your skills build up to that.

Stand-Up Paddleboards are increasing in popularity because they are incredibly fun. Combine that with the experience of building your own while learning stitch and glue boat building techniques in our Padnos Boat Shed and you will have the experience of a lifetime. The cost of this experience is $1000 with a 50% deposit required by June 12th. Call the Museum with further questions and to make your reservation.
