Five separate buildings offer a variety of engaging opportunities for the Museum visitor, including permanent and changing exhibits on Michigan maritime history, a center for the teaching of boatbuilding and related maritime skills, and a regionally renowned research library. Waterfront festivals and events are complemented by the hustle and bustle of a modern harbor and vast sandy beaches in one of west Michigan's most picturesque shoreline communities.
Friends Good Will is a tall ship sailing out of the Michigan Maritime Museum in South Haven, Michigan. The square topsail sloop is a replica of a ship of that name that fought for both the US and Great Britain during the War of 1812. The ship takes regularly scheduled sails on Lake Michigan from mid-May through mid-September, with crew dressed in full 1812 era regalia . During the summer months special “Pirate Chaser Adventure Sails” are scheduled for the younger set Wednesday though Saturday. Lindy Lou is an electric river launch that cruises up and down the Black River, starting at and returning to the Michigan Maritime Museum in South Haven. The launch is a recreation vessel designed to be a replica of river launches found in South Haven in the early 1900's. The launch cruises daily from May through October. Coming Soon! Bernida is a prizewinning 1921 R Class yacht taking four passengers for sails on Lake Michigan.
