Join the Michigan Maritime Museum for a year of programming highlighting the ways in which people have interacted with waterfronts for water-dependent commerce and industry.
Michigan will always be known as the automobile capital of the world, but the Great Lakes State boasts a similarly rich heritage in development of boat building in America. By the late nineteenth century, Michigan had emerged as the industry’s hub, drawing together the most talented designers, builders, and engine makers to produce some of the fastest and most innovative boats ever created. Join presenter and author of Making Waves: a History of Boat Building in Michigan Scott Peters to learn about these fantastic designs.
Lectures are $10 per person and FREE to Museum members, and are proudly sponsored by the Nielsen-Wells Grant Fund & Mike and Susan Smith.
