Our final lecture in our Working Waterfront series is with presenter Joe Kutchera and his presentation Faces of a Fish Empire. This presentation mirrors Kutchera's book of the same title and is about his father's time as a commercial fisherman in Wisconsin and also captures the disappearance of Lake Michigan’s many family-owned fish companies.

Joe Kutchera grew up working as a fourth-generation fishmonger at Empire Fish Company, which was founded by his great grandfather. Over the years, he listened to his grandfather’s and father’s stories about growing up in the family fish business and the fishmonger community in Wisconsin. Come hear a very real story that brings the tales of many commercial fishing families back to life.

Lectures are $10 per person and FREE to Museum members, and are proudly sponsored by the Nielsen-Wells Grant Fund & Mike and Susan Smith.
